My name is Dexter and I am in the United States Army. I have a question and hope someone can answer this for me. See i have a good size "spare tire" and my chest just kinda points out there. I already do alot of PT plus I go to the gym and work out for most of the time a hour 6 days out the week. Before I do my work outs I do 20 mins. of cardio but yet I still can't manage to get rid of my "spare tire" and I still can't get my chest to get flat or should i say less cushioned. Oh yea and I have been going to the gym for bout 3 months straight now and the only think im seeing a difference in is my biceps...any suggestions?

The biggest factor in fat loss is diet moreso than training.

What is your diet like? Post as much detail as possible and we can help you make some changes.

You can't only give 72% and expect 100% results. By taking 2 days off a week, you really sabotage your results. And if you then starve yourself on the other 5 days, then you will lose muscle and not get any leaner.

You need to maintain a strict watch on your diet 7 days a week. If you want a cheat meal, make it one or maybe two meals a week, but not a whole cheat day or cheat weekend.

Use different protein sources - just tuna day after day is not good for you. Also, make sure you have plenty of green vegetables - at least 4-6 servings a day. And don't forget healthy fats - about 60g a day is a good start.

Protein should be at least 1g per pound of bodyweight and split into 5-8 evenly sized meals spread out throughout the day.

If you have starchy carbs - have them in the morning or just before your workout. Don't have carbs later in the day, as they can lead to fat gain.

dexter...(good show btw)

i don't know what made you angry. his first response clearly made sense to me. hopefully the second made more sense to you.

i have the infamous spare tire as well...but, i recently scored some Mitotropin to help with that issue. (perhaps you could try that as well)

also...

i learned from the booklet that came with the Mitotropin that tuna should only be used the 1st 10 days of the diet since it has a lot of sodium.

i don't know what kind of person dexter is...he could be a kewl guy, but you're right. he was getting good advice...it just wasn't what he wanted to hear.

it's going to take a lot of hard work to reach your goals...bottom line is, the magic pill doesn't exist. *sigh*

Im new here and I had to register just to answer this guy, sometimes men have other conditions that stop muscular gain, he may need to see a doctor.

I know I used to force myself to the gym and it was a chore all the time, I ate fairly healthy but saw minimal gains, well I finally broke down and saw the doctor. He found out that I had abnormally low testosterone and gave me a simple treatment, a shot every month, that has done wonders for me. In the past 6 months I have lost 3-4 waist sizes, firmed up almost all areas(mid-section is always the hardest), and have gotten a lot of definition. And I didnt change much on diet, now that I am changing my diet I am hoping to drop another 20lbs before March.

Sometimes the old diet and exercise doesnt work for people and the doctor may be needed, after all it doesnt hurt to get checked out to make sure you are healthy enough to stain your body.
